Big Headline: Facebook Feed Shifts Focus to Reels

The next time you check your feed, you might notice Reels at the very top. So, what's different about Facebook Reels? Here's what we know.

  1. Two new ad formats: banner ads and sticker ads.

  2. Users can upload public Reels to their Stories for greater engagement.

  3. The remix function is meant to encourage trend engagement.

Audience’s Perspective — Facebook has not achieved the same success with Stories as IG, so it is unlikely there will be a big uptake on native FB Reels. That said, we are seeing a rise in engagements from Reels that were shared to Facebook from Instagram. We recommend taking a wait-and-see approach before making a big investment here.

Private Instagram Story Reactions

Gone are the days when your DM is cluttered with story reactions. Now, Instagram is cleaning things up by displaying reactions within the story viewer sheet. Some more info:

  1. Story likes are private.

  2. The only reaction available is the Heart emoji.

  3. There isn't a public count.

Audience’s Perspective — While the reactions are limited and private, this is a nice upgrade from the old functionality.

10-Minute Videos are Coming to TikTok

You might be wondering why TikTok would be introducing long-form video content. The answer is simple: $$$. Here's what you can expect when TikTok releases the 10-minute upload capacity.

  1. Longer, more effective ads.

  2. Users will still have the ability to upload 15 second, 60 second, and 3-minute videos.

  3. Users will spend more time on the app.

Audience’s Perspective — For brands looking to get into TikTok, this functionality will help you repurpose existing content for the platform.
