April’s Digital Marketing Updates
Big Headline: 7 New Instagram Features
Soon to be released worldwide, you will be able to change the way you interact with customers. The top 3 notable features that will be useful for your brand are:
See who is online at the top of your inbox to gauge active followers.
Tap & hold the share button to quickly reshare content.
Reply to messages while browsing so that you don't lose your browsing spot in the feed.
Audience’s Perspective — It seems that we are back into a period of platform changes. These enhancements should help improve engagement, so be ready to use them.
Elon Musk Polls Twitter Users: Do You Want an Edit Button?
Now that Elon Musk is the largest shareholder, he might have the power to finally allow users to edit tweets.
This would allow users to clean up typos that are already tweeted.
Critics say the edit button would be 'ripe for abuse', allowing people to alter the meaning of the tweet.
So far more than 70% of respondents voted in favor of an edit button.
Audience’s Perspective — If you are into catching typos from politicians your hate then you might not like this change. But for brands, this is great. And we believe it is likely to come soon.
Instagram Tests a Fully-Integrated Full-Screen Feed
Remember when people feared feed posts would go away? News of a singular feed just debunked that. The new feed is planned to contain the following:
Stories and Reels (say goodbye to the Stories bar up top)
Carousel posts and video posts
Ads and suggested content
Audience’s Perspective — We are not as confident this upgrade will happen. The Stories bar, and the related red circle, encourage engagement. While the integrated feed is a good idea, we guess it will test with lower engagement, and thus Instagram might not roll it out.
